What is a brand voice?

explanation | application | example | tips | template

Brand voice - briefly explained:

Brand voice is a feature that enables you to transform generic texts into ones that consistently reflect your brand's identity. When creating/writing text, you can activate brand voice under your preferences to make sure the text is written in a way that is custom to your brand while maintaining all of your brand's values and style guidelines. Brand voices can be updated any time. It frees up time so that you don't need to repeat your preferences each time you generate content.

✨ EXAMPLE:

Imagine you are part of the NIVEA team, and you ask the neuroflash chat to “Write 5 slogans about shower gel”. The tone is very formal, which doesn’t align with NIVEA’s preference for a more casual and approachable style.

What you can do, is establish a brand voice that encapsulates NIVEA's values and activate it in the chat. With this brand voice in place, the same prompt will now yield slogans that are conveyed in a friendly, informal tone with softer language, as these preferences are stored in your brand voice.

Setting Up Brand Voices Correctly

To create a Brand Voice in neuroflash, head over to the 🔗 Brand Hub. Click on "+ Brand Voice" and fill in the required fields.

Creating a Brand Voice involves a few simple steps.

Step 1: Basic Information

First, you’ll define the foundation of your brand. Give your Brand Voice a name and specify the language in which your content should be written.

When providing information about your brand, you can choose from three different methods. You cannot combine multiple options here – please choose your preferred method.

1. Manual entry
If your company already has a defined Brand Voice or is very clear about its brand values, this is the best option for you. Simply enter all your brand guidelines directly or use our provided template (which you can find here).

2. Share a URL
An effortless way to create your Brand Voice is by sharing a URL with neuroflash. The AI will analyze all the text on the provided website and generate a Brand Voice based on that content.

3. Upload a Document
If your company’s Brand Voice is documented in a file, such as a PDF, you can easily upload it directly to neuroflash. Supported formats include PDFs and DOC files with a maximum size of 2 MB.

💡 TIP:

Brand voices are flexible and can be modified as needed. If the AI's analysis doesn't meet your expectations, you can easily make adjustments in the subsequent steps or revisit and refine it at a later date.

Step 2: Vocabulary

In this step, you'll receive a set of automatically suggested key terms based on your previous input. You can add more terms or remove any that don’t fit your brand.

These key terms will be considered during text generation for this Brand Voice and will actively appear in your content. Be sure to include words that are crucial to your brand’s messaging and identity.

Step 3: Tonality

Now it’s time to define how friendly, empathetic, or formal your texts should sound. This is where you set important distinctions.

💡 EXAMPLE:

Texts for a pharmacy are likely to sound factual and neutral, while content for McDonald's might feel fun and engaging. This is the type of adjustment you'll make here.

Step 4: Brand Values

Finally, you'll define your brand values. In most cases, a few suggested values will already be provided. You can select these or add up to 10 values that best describe your brand or company. If any of the suggested values don’t align with your brand, you can easily remove them.

That's it — your Brand Voice is ready!
